What to Expect
No Reservation Needed
Reservations are not required during normal business days.
Lessons and special events may require advance scheduling.

Staff will help your group get started, review safety,
and make sure you know where you’re going before heading
onto the course.
Allow Plenty of Time
An experienced group of four to five shooters can typically
complete a round of sporting clays in about 1½ to 2 hours.
You Don’t Have to Be a Member
LWSSC is open to the public. Membership is not required
to come out and shoot.
What to Bring
Shotgun
Bring your own shotgun or rent one from the LWSSC pro shop.
Adult and youth-size rentals are available.
Ammunition
Target loads are recommended. Permitted shot sizes are
7½, 8, 8½, and 9.
Eye Protection
Bring safety glasses if you have them. Safety glasses
are also available at the club.
Ear Protection
Bring your preferred hearing protection or ask the club
about available ear protection.

Safety comes first at LWSSC. Before heading onto the course,
staff will help your group get started and make sure everyone
understands where to go and how the course operates.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you host tournaments?
We host a variety of events including NSCA registered events,
benefit shoots, and corporate shoots. Check our Calendar of Events
for upcoming shoots and special events.
Do you have golf carts available?
We have a limited number of golf carts available for rent on a
first-come, first-served basis. A valid driver’s license is required
to operate a golf cart.
Can I bring my own golf cart?
Yes. You may bring your own transportation for the sporting clays
course while assuming responsibility for its use. Carts, UTVs, and
ATVs are allowed, and all operators are expected to maintain a safe
and appropriate speed.
Do you have a patterning board?
Yes. A patterning board is available. Lead shot only is permitted.
Is there an age limit for children?
There is no specific age limit. LWSSC recommends that a child weigh
approximately 80 pounds so they can properly handle a firearm and
have a positive shooting experience.
How much time does it take to shoot a round?
The time depends on the size and experience of your group. An
experienced group of four to five shooters can typically complete a
round of sporting clays in approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Newer
shooters may take longer.
Does someone need to escort me around the Sporting Clays course?
No. The range is fully automated, allowing shooters to trap for one
another. Staff will get your group started, review safety and
directions, and a complete course tour is available before you begin.
Are gift certificates available?
Yes. Gift certificates are available in any amount and can be
purchased for use at LWSSC.
As an annual member, are there restrictions on guests?
Members may bring as many guests as they would like. The same guest
may visit up to three times while receiving member rates.
Do I need a special shotgun to shoot there?
No. Any shotgun is acceptable, from a single-shot shotgun to a
double barrel. Because some targets may be presented two at a time,
a shotgun capable of holding two shells is recommended but not
required. Rental shotguns are also available.
Do you rent shotguns?
Yes. LWSSC has adult- and youth-size rental shotguns available.
Do I need special shells?
Target loads are appropriate, and lighter loads are generally
recommended for clay shooting. Permitted shot sizes at LWSSC are
7½, 8, 8½, and 9. Shells are also available for purchase at the club.
Do I need to bring eye and ear protection?
You may bring your own, but LWSSC also has safety glasses available
to borrow, along with hearing-protection options available to borrow
or purchase.
Are instructors available?
Yes. LWSSC offers several forms of instruction. Staff members can
assist when available, scheduled instruction is available with
instructors, and the club hosts instructional clinics throughout the
year.
What is the difference between skeet, trap, 5-Stand, and sporting clays?
All four disciplines use clay targets. The primary difference is how
and where the targets are presented to the shooter.
Do I need reservations?
Reservations are required for lessons and certain special events.
Reservations are not required during a normal business day.
Are you open year round?
Yes. LWSSC is open year round.

How long have you been open?
LWSSC opened to the public on March 27, 2001.
Do you allow rifles or pistols?
No. LWSSC is a clay-target facility. The only firearms permitted are
shotguns.
What type of choke is good to shoot with on your course?
Most targets are set so that an improved-cylinder choke is
appropriate, with the exception of tournament-level sporting clays
courses.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes. Well-behaved pets are welcome, but they must remain under their
owner’s control at all times and should be kept on a leash when
necessary.
Do you have to be a member?
No. You do not have to be a member to shoot at LWSSC. Annual
membership provides lower target fees and can also provide lower
rates for qualifying guests.
